About the USSF E5 Sergeant Rank
In the U.S. Space Force (USSF), a Sergeant (Sgt) is an E-5 non-commissioned officer (NCO) and the first level of NCO leadership, responsible for leading small teams, mentoring junior personnel, and providing technical expertise. Established on December 20, 2019, the rank replaced the Air Force's "Staff Sergeant" title to establish the Space Force's unique identity in military history.
