About USSF E5 Sergeant
In the U.S. Space Force (USSF), a Sergeant (Sgt) is an E-5 non-commissioned officer (NCO) and the first level of NCO leadership, responsible for leading small teams, mentoring junior Guardians, and providing technical expertise in space operations. Established on December 20, 2019, the rank replaced the Air Force's "Staff Sergeant" title to establish the Space Force's unique identity and heritage.
