On February 1, 2021, the U.S. Space Force established the "Specialist 4" (SPC4) rank, replacing the Air Force Senior Airman (E-4) designation for enlisted Guardians. This change, along with unique rank insignia revealed in September 2021, defines the modern, specialized, and independent identity of the USSF, established on December 20, 2019.
